Why did you choose your field of study?

I find the mechanisms and uses of pharmaceuticals to be fascinating. It’s amazing how much these products can improve the quality of life for so many individuals. I also enjoy the flexibility and diversity of practice opportunities.

Why did you choose this school?

For its academic reputation and the many career opportunities its graduates have.

Why should this school choose you?

I have done my research and am committed to having a career in pharmacy.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My strengths are I am reliable and hard working. I am always on time and never absent and despite my course load still make time for work, volunteer activities and family obligations. My weakness is I find it difficult to say no when asked to do something as a favor for a friend.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a good pharmacist?

Professionalism, good communication skills, good judgment, and compassion.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I plan to be in a hospital clinical practice as well as work in the academic world by teaching in a college of pharmacy.

What advice do you have for students planning to enter the field of pharmacy?

Research the field so you know what you are getting into and work hard on your basic science pre-requisite courses.

Your pharmacy dispenses the wrong medication to a child and the child ends up in the hospital. What would say to the child’s parent?

Although I don’t have children of my own, I can only imagine how worried and angry the parents would feel in. I would apologize for the error and assure the parents know that I am available to answer their questions and that all pharmacy staff will be made aware of the error and steps will be taken to prevent such errors from occurring in the future.

What challenges do you see for the field of pharmacy?

The challenge of convincing physicians to have confidence in pharmacists and observe us as experts in medications. Some physicians feel that a pharmacist doesn’t have the knowledge to question their dispensing medication.
